About Urogynecology
A urogynecologist, sometimes referred to as a female urologist, is a surgeon specializing in benign pelvic conditions, lower urinary tract disorders, and female pelvic floor dysfunction. Patients visit a urogynecologist for help with urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, vaginal prolapse, uterine prolapse, and gynecological surgery (such as a hysterectomy). A urogynecologist is different from a urologist in that urogynecologists focus exclusively on the female reproductive organs, pelvic floor reconstruction, and the bladder.
